This was my final project for my Modernity:Realism and Surrealism Class.
We were required to either make a copy or create a visual response to a piece of modern art.

I chose to make my own rendition of Fernand Leger's, "The City".

drawing 2 final

This final project for my drawing 2 class was based on finding line structures, configuring them together and mixing them with other media to create collages. These collage units are of colored pencil, thread, mixed paper and flower drawings. It was fun to experiment with the 3rd dimension as well by layering, cutting, and using foam.

this spring break consisted of: celebrating the resurrection of our risen Lord, coffee shops, friend chatting, roof climbing, sport watching, back spasms-leading to immobile day in bed, family time, homeworking, sleeping, shopping, music listening, beach trips, good conversations, ping pong, the royal tenebaums, some cleaning...
overall, good time.
thank you Lord.

now back to reality.
month and a half of school left never looked so hard to climb.

Charcoal Drawings

Both of these charcoal drawings are from my Drawing 2 class- from this Spring Semester. We made collages out of photos/etc. Then from the collages we rendered the 20x24in charcoal drawings. Charcoal is by far one of my favorite mediums to work with. You do a lot of erasing to get the white, and get to blend with your hands.

"Soften the City"- 22x36 : This was my first large project for my Integrated Design I class. The subject matter for the posters were based off of this years- Art Symposium at Biola (all art conference for art students and the community) The topic of it was - how the city influences our beliefs and actions, specifically when looking at art and culture making. I based my poster after the idea that our cities are so urbanized and cramped that sometimes we need a little nature to be re-introduced. Organic meets Geometric, the city can be softened by the freshness of nature. For example (think of Central Park). ....

So I sketched and sketched, painted, etc and scanned in a ton of stuff. After that, I basically cut my sketches up ---and started compiling them together to get some different ideas. The background is a watercolor. The buildings are just ink drawings. The landscapes are made with markers.

World Issue Drawing: "Environment"- 5x7
This drawing is from my Drawing 2 class from this Spring Semester. We worked on this for about 2-3 weeks. The subject matter for this drawing was to pick a world issue and compile a 5x7 collage. Then from the collage, we were to exactly render a copy using a transfer technique and shading.
